Our Story
We train our staff to put our residents needs first and to always respect their right to choose the elements of our service that are important to them. Whether it is making their weekly menu choices or choosing which activities to participate in we always treat our residents with dignity and care. It is our privilege to care for the Elderly and we take that responsibility very seriously. Brimlea is fully accredited by the Aged Care Accreditation Agency.
Brimlea is owned by the Mallios family, who have been giving wonderful quality care to the Older members of the Murrumbeena community for many years. Their passion and experience means that not only do our residents have a great experience we also have a very low staff turnover. Our staff stay for a long time because they enjoy being valued and cared for as people.
Our staff are carefully selected and receive continual professional development to ensure that their skills are current and that they continue to grow and improve as people and as professionals.

John Mallios
Owner and Managing Director
John’s experience and compassion is the foundation upon which Brimlea’s wonderful culture has been built. He continually strives to improve Brimlea and monitors all facets of the business regularly to ensure that our high standards are consistently met.
John’s passion for caring for the elderly has been passed on from his parents, the original owners of Brimlea.
John sees Brimlea’s residents and staff as his extended family — he loves nothing more than seeing them all happy, well cared for and enjoying life.
Julie Speirs
Director of Care and Services
I have 20+ years of experience in Aged Care initially working as a personal carer, thereafter a registered nurse and then into management.
I am passionate about quality aged care being provided to residents. Having recently worked in a Ukrainian aged care facility, I have experience in culturally specific aged care.
I have specialised training and management in Dementia and Palliative Care.

Facility Coordinator
She attends to all administration tasks and ensures that everything runs smoothly.
Her warm and friendly nature is much loved by all at Brimlea. She is committed and compassionate, and we are very fortunate to have her as part of our team.

He enjoys cooking a variety of delicious, healthy meals and ensures that everything in our kitchen is of the highest standard. Ringo is a loving father to his young family and takes great enjoyment and pride in delivering nothing but the best meals to our residents. It is for this reason that he is a popular and much loved member of the Brimlea team.
